I have so much to be thankful for as Thanksgiving nears! I am thankful for finding my passion and the courage to pursue it! And I am extremely thankful for your support and encouragement on this journey!
This month has been a whirlwind, with several rehearsals, performances, and interviews. Last Sunday, I was a part of the In Sight and Sound: Live De(a)f Poetry showcase, which brought hearing and deaf artists together. It was an amazing experience and I look forward to doing more work with the deaf community. In case you missed it, you can check out my performance on YouTube here.
On Monday, I did a live radio performance on WPFW. The radio show’s dialogue centered around DC Statehood and Trayvon Martin, so I performed DC State of Mind and I Am Trayvon Martin. The conversation was so moving and engaging; please listen to the podcast if you were not able to tune in. You can find the podcast here. It is archived under Monday, November 12, 2012, 10:00 a.m., The Struggle Continues. Attached you will find a picture of me in the studio and a clip of my radio performance.
And also on Monday, I took the stage with comedian Tommy Davidson in support of the Benjamin Banneker Memorial. I am still laughing from the good time we had, but more importantly, happy to have brought attention to such a worthwhile cause. Go to my Facebook page to check out pictures from the event. The Memorial still needs your support, so as you think about your year-end charitable giving, please consider it. You can contribute to the Memorial here.
Again, thanks for your support!
Happy Thanksgiving!
